Marissa Barbera is the President & Owner of Charter Oak Insurance Agency. She started working in this agency as a high school senior in the position of filing clerk & secretary. She attended Berkeley Business School in White Plains and went on to manage the many different offices located throughout Fairfield County. She has worked in all aspects of Personal & Commercial Lines along with claims for the past 45 years.  

She then became a partner and bought the agency from her former partner in 2012.  Since that time, she went on to purchase the Atwater Insurance Agency in Derby and the Minuteman Insurance & CO in Fairfield.

She resides in Westport with her husband Jim, has two children & one grandchild presently and two dogs. Hobbies are gardening, reading in the summer & puzzles in winter.

Kyle Shouvlin is a licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Agent. Kyle joined Charter Oak Agency in September of 2016. Prior to joining Charter Oak Agency, Kyle was an elementary school teacher and high school hockey coach. Kyle uses the skills developed from years of teaching and coaching to educate individuals, families and businesses about their insurance needs. Insurance is complex, Kyle strives to remove the confusion and protect his clients.

Kyle has earned both a B.S. in Sociology and a M.A. in Education from Quinnipiac University. He is currently in the process of becoming a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). Kyle resides in Wilton, CT with his wife Kaitlyn and their pets. While away from the office, Kyle enjoys skiing, playing paddle tennis, and spending as much time as possible with his friends and family.

Sean Doyle has over a decade of experience in the insurance industry and over two decades in residential and commercial construction. Sean has an instinctive understanding of what it entails to design, build homes, contracting, and he strives to exceeds client expectation as a rule.

Licensed in Connecticut Property Casualty Insurance, he guides clients in the application process and underwriting in-order to procure the most comprehensive insurance coverage tailored specifically for personal or commercial exposures.

As a lifelong resident of Westport, Connecticut, Sean Doyle played Soccer and Ice Hockey at the University of Connecticut. He is an enthusiastic golfer, plays ice hockey six months of the year and as member of the Fairfield County Platform Tennis League, Sean plays several times a week to hone is skills for competition. His hobbies are woodworking, and landscaping projects.

Sean Kalmanides has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, and has been servicing both individual clients as well as larger companies with an emphasis on long term relationship building as well as excellent customer service. Sean began his career in the field of employee benefits before expanding into the arena of personal and commercial property and casualty. He joined Charter Oak in 2013 and is involved in all facets of operations including both sales and customer service.  

Sean is licensed in life/health and property and casualty. He is a graduate of Albertus Magnus and holds a BS in Business Management. Sean currently resides in Trumbull, CT.  His wife Tracey is an elementary school teacher and together they have three children, Dean (12), Johnny (10), and Mila (7). When Sean is out of the office, you can usually find him on either a baseball or soccer field cheering on his kids.  

Rachel Matheis began her insurance career on the insurance company side specializing in Commercial Insurance including claims & claim litigation over a 10 year period.

She started working for Charter Oak Agency in 2014 when she brought this commercial expertise to the agency to help manage commercial lines accounts. This includes working with the customer  for the servicing of the account, Worker Compensation audits and premium & coverage comparisons.

She holds a Connecticut  Property/Casualty insurance license and recently earned her CPIA designation.  

She lives in Norwalk with her husband, two sons and her dog. She enjoys community volunteer work, reading & gardening.

Dorothy graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. After college, she worked in Health Care for 4 years and transitioned to insurance in 2018. She holds a property and casualty insurance license, specializing in personal lines insurance. Dorothy joined the Charter Oak team in the summer of 2022 primarily working at the Atwater location in Derby.  She handles all things personal lines from servicing to sales.    

On the weekends you can usually find her at a winery, visiting a new restaurant or spending time with friends and family. Dorothy was born in Haiti and moved to Stratford, CT at the age of 7 and is currently living in Naugatuck, CT.
